What is an Ambassador?

To ensure that no person in Richmond goes uncounted, the City is inviting those active in the community to become an RVA Counts 2020 Ambassador. The City of Richmond is looking for individuals who are capable of reaching large audiences, either through social media, or other forms of communication. Participants will have the option of volunteering as an individual or a group. Some examples of groups that can sign up are:

  • Home Owners Associations

  • Alumni

  • Parent Groups

  • Book Clubs

  • Social Media Influencers

  • Greek Organizations

  • Mentoring Programs

Ambassadors will be responsible for sharing the newsletter and all other relevant information to their audience.

Ambassadors are important to the engagement of as many Richmond residents as possible. Ambassadors will volunteer their time by spreading a wealth of information to those in the community who may not be quite as informed or well prepared for the 2020 Census.

Who Are They?

Ambassadors are Richmonders who are:

  • Passionate about an accurate 2020 Census count;

  • Active on social media, and have a large online audience;

  • Active in the community and local organizations;

  • Have community engagement experience;

  • Excited to engage fellow Richmonders in a way that is beneficial for strong Census participation.

Ambassadors are encouraged to engage and inform their respective constituents and audiences in a way they feel most comfortable. They will receive a full Media Kit with approved digital material posts to aid in spreading important information, and relevant dates to their online audience. All other media requests must be approved by Will Palmquist, who serves as Chair of the RVA Counts 2020 Complete Count Committee.
